Moving Ahead with The Perfect Piece

Moving Ahead with The Perfect Piece

If you’ve stopped by The Perfect Piece during the last few weeks to browse, chances are you’ve heard one of our employees talk about her big move. Adi just purchased a home and moved in this past week, and she looked to none other than her workplace for new ideas in a new place. Moving is a chaotic process, and we certainly don’t expect flawless rooms or pristine decor. However, we can make your post-move process easier by helping you create a vision and build a refreshed vibe for your new home. Adi provides discoveries she made in her own home using ideas from work here– check them out as you navigate your move to spark inspiration!

Playing with Paint

Adi fell in love with the popular jewel tones of 2026. She invested in Wise Owl’s Plum Velvet shade, envisioning a deep purple front door… only to realize after taking it home that it would clash with her light blue vinyl siding. Making her way through the house, she had a sudden thought: Wise Owl paint works well on wood and is durable enough to hold up on front doors. Her entryway walls are made of wood paneling. From this idea was born a vision of an entryway with Plum Velvet walls paired with a neutral storage bench and black coat rack she already owned. She tied it all together with a beige and black mirror from The Perfect Piece above the bench and colorful pillows for a chic twist greeting her guests right as they enter the front door.

Mixing the New with the Loved

From lemon print linens to art to salt and pepper shakers, Adi had decked out her kitchen in her favorite citrus fruit. After moving, she wanted to put a new twist on an old favorite. She decided the kitchen in her new home would be a general citrus theme instead of lemons exclusively. She brought the gently loved lemon themed items she wanted to part with to the store’s purchaser, and she went on the hunt for items with a wider citrus theme. When the store put together its lemon and citrus front display, she went on the hunt. Adi found a green jar with a lime emblem and a clear glass mason jar with an etched fruit pattern to display on her kitchen display shelves. She plans to add items showing off oranges to her collection, but she’s off to a great start!

The previous owners of Adi’s new home also offered up the furniture inside. She decided to keep a living room media stand with a fireplace. The fireplace has a small bookcase on each end, and the empty shelves were calling for decor displays. Adi purchased a wooden bird tabletop piece with a black metal base at the store and used it as a launch point for decorating the bookcases. She put it prominently on the top shelf and filled her favorite photo-filled picture frames and miniature decor pieces around it. The top shelf of the other bookcase holds a personal favorite that ties the whole room together: a Swan Creek scented candle. Her favorite spring scent is White Peach and Clove, and she’ll swap it out soon with her favorite summer scent. (Take a guess as to which summer scent she loves. Hint: it might just have the word “Lemon” in it.)

Planning a Room in Progress

While we’d all love to have a whole home tied together within a few days of moving, we realistically know that goal is just not possible. If you’ve somehow pulled it off, we absolutely need you to come into the store and share your secrets with us! For Adi, her spare room that also functions as a reading room is a massive work in progress two weeks after moving. She wants to balance a guest room feel with the comfortable chairs, pillows, and bookcases found in reading spaces. Exploring the artwork entering the store, she started forming a plan: she would keep the wall paint and core furniture neutral shades while embracing bold, vivid colors for the pillows, blankets, and artwork in the room. Two oversized magenta pillows and a bold sunflower canvas later, she is ready to start slowly tying these items from the store in with her existing furniture. When guests are over, she’ll simply swap the pillows out for the oversized white set she already has.

We hope sharing Adi’s moving and home decorating journey has inspired you to think differently about your own.
